Kyren Lacy, a wide receiver for Louisiana State University and an NFL Draft prospect, is currently wanted by Louisiana State Police in connection with a tragic incident that resulted in the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall. Authorities report that Lacy faces charges including negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle following a crash that took place on December 17 on Louisiana State Highway 20.
According to the Louisiana State Police, Lacy was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger at a high rate of speed, reportedly tailgating and illegally passing vehicles in a designated No-Passing-Zone. During this reckless driving, a pickup truck attempted to avoid a potential collision by braking and swerving, causing a subsequent head-on collision with a 2017 Kia Sorento that was in the opposite lane. Tragically, Herman Hall, who was a passenger in the Kia Sorento, succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital.
Following the crash, Lacy allegedly fled the scene without rendering assistance, failing to contact emergency services or report his involvement. The Louisiana State Police later confirmed his identity as the driver of the Charger and obtained an arrest warrant for the various charges.
In the aftermath of the incident, authorities have indicated they are in discussions with Lacy and his legal team regarding his surrender. Lacy had recently declared for the NFL Draft on December 19, just two days after the tragic event.
This situation is an unfortunate reminder of the potential consequences of reckless behavior on the road, not only for those involved but also for families and communities affected by such tragedies. While Lacy’s future in professional football now hangs in the balance, the focus remains on the loss felt by the family and friends of Herman Hall during this difficult time.
