LSU is set to maintain its undefeated home record as the Tigers face Prairie View A&M on Monday evening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Currently, the Tigers hold a strong 10-1 overall record and are 6-0 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, while the Panthers stand at 5-6, struggling with a winless record of 0-5 on the road this season.

Both teams come into the match after recent home victories. LSU showcased their skills by defeating Southeastern Louisiana 78-65 on Friday, with Marquel Sutton leading the effort with game highs of 19 points and nine rebounds. For Prairie View, Tai’Reon Joseph shone in their 101-64 victory over Paul Quinn College on Saturday, scoring an impressive 26 points and maintaining a team-leading scoring average of 21.1 points per game.

The Tigers enter the contest on a two-game winning streak, both achieved on their home turf. In their previous matchups, LSU had notable performances, scoring 50 points in the paint during an 89-77 win against SMU and dominating the first half against Southeastern Louisiana. Coach Matt McMahon expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting their shooting efficiency and the contributions from multiple players. “Fifty-four percent from the floor, 40% from three, and we had four guys in double figures, so there’s good balance there,” McMahon said.

LSU boasts a shooting percentage of 51.8% for the season and has outperformed their opponents on the boards, averaging 40.1 rebounds compared to 32.3. Michael Nwoko contributes significantly to the team’s scoring, averaging 15.5 points per game, while Sutton leads in rebounding with an average of 9.2.

On the other hand, Prairie View has faced challenges in close losses, including a narrow 72-69 defeat at North Texas and a 97-85 setback at South Dakota. Despite these setbacks, the Panthers have excelled during their last two home games, exemplified by a commanding 124-62 win against Champions Christian College and recently against Paul Quinn. In that matchup, in addition to Joseph’s standout performance, Cory Wells recorded a team-high 12 rebounds, significantly surpassing his season average.

As both teams prepare for this exciting matchup, LSU aims to continue their home dominance, while Prairie View will look to break their road struggles and build on their recent successes.
