The Louisiana State Police have activated an AMBER Alert for 2-year-old Christopher Cooper, following his reported abduction on Tuesday night. Authorities are urging the public’s help to locate Cooper, who was last observed around 9:45 p.m. on September 30, 2025. He was believed to be traveling south on Interstate 55, near Kentwood, in a white 2011 GMC Yukon.

Christopher Cooper is described as a black male with brown eyes and short black hair. He stands at 3 feet 2 inches tall and weighs between 40 and 50 pounds. At the time of his disappearance, he was dressed in a red shirt, black shorts, and blue Crocs shoes.

The suspect in the abduction, James Mercier, is described as a white male with brown eyes and brown hair. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. Mercier was last seen wearing black pants without a shirt and was carrying a white or gray shirt. It is believed that both Cooper and Mercier are traveling in the white 2011 GMC Yukon with Mississippi license plate number PJT070.

Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in locating Christopher Cooper and James Mercier. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 345-6150 or dial 911 immediately.
