The Lorwyn Eclipsed World Premiere commenced the anticipated preview season with a captivating music video crafted by The Jim Henson Company, along with a flurry of card previews that unveil exciting mechanics, Booster Fun treatments, and notable guest appearances on Weekly MTG.
Players can mark their calendars with the important dates for the Lorwyn: First Light expansion, which is set to release on November 18, 2025. Main stories will be showcased from December 8 to December 16, followed by the official debut on January 5, 2026. A full card image gallery will be available on January 12, leading up to prerelease events from January 16 to January 22. The expansion will be available on MTG Arena starting January 20, with tabletop releases scheduled for January 23. The Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsed will take place from January 30 to February 1, and a special Magic Spotlight event will follow from February 6 to February 8.
Among the exciting announcements, the beloved planeswalker Oko returns in a double-sided format, emphasizing the day/night mechanics featured in many cards. The set also welcomes fan-favorite creatures like Goblins, Faeries, Merfolk, Elves, Giants, Kithkin, Elementals, and Changelings, capturing the nostalgic essence of the original Lorwyn block.
Lorwyn Eclipsed reintroduces established mechanics such as foretell, convoke, and evoke, while also unveiling new elements like blight and vivid. Additionally, the kindred mechanic makes a return, showcased through the typal sorcery titled Grub’s Command.
The Booster Fun treatments excite collectors, starting with a stunning variant of Bitterbloom Bearer, illustrated by renowned artist Rebecca Guay. Options for collectors include Fable Frame cards, borderless cards, Japan showcase cards, and reversible shock lands, allowing players to select day or night versions for many beloved cards.
Two Commander Decks will accompany Lorwyn Eclipsed, featuring the five-color Dance of the Elements deck and the red, green, and black Blight Curse deck, each showcasing unique face cards. The Buy-a-Box promotional card for the set is an extended-art Harmonized Crescendo, while Bundles will include an alternate art Kinbinding.
