Longhorns Dominate in First SEC Victory: A Game to Remember!

AUSTIN, Texas — In front of a crowd of 101,388, the No. 1/2 Texas Football team secured their first SEC victory with a 35-13 win over Mississippi State on Saturday at Darrell K. Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium.

Quarterback Arch Manning completed 26 of 31 passes for 324 yards and threw two touchdown passes. He also scored a touchdown on the ground. DeAndre Moore Jr. had a standout game, catching four passes for 103 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Running back Quintrevion Wisner added 88 yards on 13 carries.

The Longhorns quickly made their mark after stopping Mississippi State on fourth down at the Texas 28. They executed a 5-play, 72-yard drive that culminated in a 1-yard touchdown run by Jaydon Blue, marking his fourth rushing touchdown this season.

Texas ended the first half with a thrilling play as Arch Manning connected with DeAndre Moore Jr. on a 49-yard touchdown pass, giving Texas a 14-6 lead. This touchdown capped an 8-play, 75-yard drive completed in just over a minute.

In the third quarter, Texas defense created a turnover when Vernon Broughton sacked Mississippi State quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr., forcing and recovering a fumble at the Texas 43-yard line. This marks the Longhorns’ eighth forced turnover in five games, as they have recorded at least one turnover in every game so far.

Manning showcased his rushing ability with a 26-yard scramble and then scored on a 1-yard run, extending Texas’ lead to 21-6 by the end of the third quarter. This was Manning’s third career rushing touchdown and marked the third game this season where he achieved both a passing and rushing touchdown. On the following Texas possession, Manning threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Moore Jr., who scored his second touchdown of the game, closing out an 8-play, 85-yard drive.

Isaiah Bond capped off the Longhorns’ victory with a 26-yard rushing touchdown with just over three minutes left in the game, finalizing the score at 35-13. It was Bond’s first career rushing touchdown.
