A significant snowfall blanketed Long Island over the weekend, with many communities reporting totals between 6 and 8 inches. The National Weather Service updated their figures to reflect these totals, with Levittown leading the way at 7.2 inches. Multiple locations in Suffolk County, including North Patchogue, Center Moriches, and Remsenburg-Speonk, each recorded 7 inches of snow.

In Nassau County, several areas also experienced substantial accumulation. Bethpage reported 7 inches, while Elmont measured closely behind at 6.9 inches. Other notable totals include Sea Cliff with 6.5 inches and areas like South Massapequa, Plainview, and Bellmore, which generally ranged between 5 and 6 inches.

The snowfall was consistent across both counties, as indicated by the tight clustering of the reported totals, which suggests that the storm impacted a wide area rather than creating isolated pockets of heavy snow. In Suffolk County, reports indicated similar widespread totals, with communities such as Mount Sinai, Islip, and Shirley accumulating between 5.5 and 6 inches, whereas areas further east like Jamesport saw slightly lower totals around 4 inches.

Despite the beautiful winter scenery, the National Weather Service warned of potentially hazardous conditions on roadways due to the snow-covered and slippery paths that could persist through Sunday and into the following days, as temperatures are expected to remain at or below freezing until at least Wednesday. Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling during this winter weather.

The snowfall provides not only a picturesque winter landscape but also a reminder of the robust winter season yet to come, as these conditions are expected to linger, allowing for opportunities to enjoy winter activities and the beauty of the season.
