The Loloma Heights under-21 rugby team is radiating optimism and camaraderie as they strive to make a mark at the Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s tournament in Taveuni. This spirited group of young athletes, hailing from the Urata area near Savusavu, has embarked on their journey to success with a strong sense of determination.

In their first match of the tournament, the team emerged victorious against the Varon Golden Eagles, securing a solid 12-0 win. However, they faced a tougher challenge in their next match, suffering a 0-26 defeat to Fiji Seasalt Taveuni Select 1. Despite the setback, team manager Viliame Rasekaseka remains proud of his players, commending their preparation and commitment as they compete in this significant tournament.

Rasekaseka highlighted the team’s recent performance in a 15s tournament, where they pooled players from various squads to form a unified team ready to tackle the 7s format. Their enhanced fitness from participating in a tournament just two weeks prior has positioned them well for the upcoming challenges. “Our preparations have gone smoothly since arriving in Taveuni last week,” he shared, expressing optimism about their prospects in the competition.

Expressing gratitude toward the team’s sponsors and families for their unwavering support, Rasekaseka acknowledged the vital role these relationships play in the players’ journeys. As they prepare for their final pool match against the Village Boys at 5:15 PM, the Loloma Heights team is focused on securing a spot in the tournament’s later stages. Competing in Pool 3 alongside Fiji Seasalt Taveuni Select 1, Village Boys, and Varon Golden Eagles, the team is eager to showcase their skills and resilience on the field.

This display of unity and determination embodies the spirit of youth rugby in Fiji, reminding fans that every challenge presents an opportunity for growth and success.
