Lola Tung and Nico Parker are set to star in The Young People, the new feature from Osgood Perkins, the Longlegs director who also wrote the screenplay. Neon, which has a first-look deal with Perkins, will co-finance the film with Lyrical Media and handle its theatrical release. Perkins is producing with his Phobos banner alongside Chris Ferguson, with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones producing for Range. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the project is described as a story about young people. Production is slated to begin this fall in Vancouver.

Perkins and his Phobos team recently inked a deal with Neon, which will release Perkins’ next film, Keeper, on November 14.

Tung is currently the lead in Season 3 of Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty. She also just wrapped Forbidden Fruits, an upcoming horror feature set for theatrical release in 2026. On stage, she made her Broadway debut in Hadestown as Eurydice in a limited engagement in February 2024.

Parker most recently appeared in Universal’s live-action How To Train Your Dragon and Maude Apatow’s directorial debut, Poetic License, which is premiering at TIFF. Her other credits include Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Suncoast, and the HBO series The Last Of Us, for which she earned a 2024 BAFTA Television Award nomination.

Neon’s recent slate includes best picture Oscar winner for 2024’s Anora, a prize the company previously won for Parasite. Neon has also released Michael Angelo Covino and Kyle Marvin’s Splitsville, and Together starring Alison Brie and Dave Franco. The company is set to debut Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice and will screen seven films at TIFF, including The Secret Agent, It Was Just an Accident, Sirât, and Sentimental Value.

Lyrical Media is currently in post-production on Adam Wingard’s Onslaught and Michael Sarnoski’s The Death of Robin Hood, which stars Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, and Bill Skarsgård.

Tung is represented by CAA, Carissa Stewart, Narrative, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman et al. Parker is represented by WME and Curtis Brown Group. Perkins is represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
