Logan Cooley Signs Eight-Year, $80M Front-Loaded Deal with Utah Mammoth

The Utah Mammoth have secured an eight-year contract extension with forward Logan Cooley, announcing on Wednesday that the deal will have an annual average value of $10 million. This significant contract marks one of the richest signings for a player transitioning from an entry-level deal, coming in as the third-highest in NHL history. Notably, the contract does not include any signing bonuses and is structured to be heavily front-loaded with all salary components.

Cooley expressed his enthusiasm about the contract, stating, “Choosing to play with this group of teammates was the easiest part of this decision, and living in Utah has been amazing since day one.” He further praised the supportive environment provided by team owners Ryan and Ashley Smith, emphasizing the resources available to ensure the team’s success.

At just 21 years old, Cooley was selected third overall by the Arizona Coyotes during the 2022 NHL Draft. He began his rookie season with the Coyotes in 2023-24 before the franchise’s relocation to Utah. In his career so far, Cooley has accumulated 53 goals and 121 points over 168 games, including an impressive eight goals and 12 points in just 11 games this current season with the Mammoth. He also contributed to the United States’ gold medal victory at the IIHF World Hockey Championship in Sweden and Denmark earlier this year.

The Mammoth are showing strong performance, starting their season with a record of 8-3-0, which bodes well for the team’s aspirations as Cooley commits to contributing to their future success. This signing showcases the team’s ambition and growth, setting a positive tone for the remaining season.
