DAMASCUS, Ga. – Southwest Georgia Academy senior Ella Ashley has had an eventful six months, celebrated for her accomplishments on both the softball field and basketball court. Recently, she signed a letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic journey at Georgia Military College. Reflecting on her experiences, Ashley expressed her gratitude for the support she received and her hard work paying off.
“This means a lot because I’ve worked so hard. As a little kid, I always wanted to play college ball, and I’m really excited. I never could have imagined my senior year going this well,” she said.
Ashley is set to finish her time at SGA on a high note, as the Lady Warriors Basketball team boasts a strong record of 14-2 and is in contention for a deep playoff run. This season could serve as the perfect finale to her athletic career in Damascus.
Fellow senior, Sawyer Franklin, is also making plans for the future, choosing Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College for his next steps. He reflects on how his ambitions evolved over time and appreciates the support from fans and the community.
“I didn’t really know until a couple of years ago that this was what I wanted to do, but I’m thankful for the opportunity to go play,” Franklin shared.
