On New Year’s Eve morning, Brian Dingess from Chapmanville set out on an inspiring mission to run 100 miles within a 24-hour period, a challenge he successfully completed, marking a remarkable achievement as he embraced 2026.

Running 400 laps around the track at Chapmanville High School’s Barker Stadium, Dingess was joined by numerous supporters who motivated him every step of the way. His commitment to endurance sports isn’t new; he’s an avid runner and regularly participates in various marathon events. The goal for this monumental run was not only personal but also aimed at raising funds for his local church, Morning Star Freewill Baptist Church.

A poignant video posted on the church’s Facebook page captured the moment he completed his final mile, as the community rallied together to create a festive finish line for Dingess, ringing cowbells in celebration of his achievement. His wife, Christina, was among the many who braved the cold to provide support.

“You should support anyone in your circle, your family,” Christina emphasized. “Your support is everything with this. You have to maintain the proper nutrition and hydration. Those things are key, or else you’re not going to make it.” She expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming turnout, noting how heartwarming it was to see so many community members come together to support her husband’s endeavor.

The community spirit displayed during Dingess’s run exemplifies the positive impact of collective support, showcasing how individual achievements can foster unity and purpose within a community. Such events not only highlight personal determination but also underscore the value of encouragement from loved ones and neighbors.
