The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), alongside the New Terminal One (NTO) and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) Airports, has announced that three graduates of the Port Authority’s Institute of Concessions (IOC) will join WHSmith North America to enhance the travel essentials offering at John F. Kennedy International Airport’s New Terminal One.
This initiative is part of a collaborative effort involving three New York-based firms that will contribute products and investments through an incubator program led by Love From USA. The aim is to deliver a variety of travel essentials that highlight New York’s unique offerings, featuring high-quality merchandise from global, national, and local brands.
Spread across six retail spaces totaling approximately 8,400 square feet, the curated selection will include popular local brands such as Made in Queens, Magnolia Bakery, Jacques Torres Chocolates, and Greyston Bakery, along with locally sourced products like granola from Baked by Noon and handmade soaps from Treestar.
Jennifer Aument, CEO of New Terminal One, expressed her enthusiasm for creating a retail experience that reflects New York’s vibrant culture and provides convenience for international travelers. Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole emphasized the importance of showcasing the region’s hospitality to visitors arriving at JFK.
The IOC program, launched in July 2023, aims to prepare local and diverse businesses for participation in JFK’s $19 billion transformation. By completing the program, businesses gain the skills necessary to compete for contracts and succeed in airport concessions, thereby generating a supportive economic ecosystem.
Three graduates—Beautiful Amore Skincare, Rincon Salvedoreno, and Brooklyn Blend—are set to showcase their products in the retail spaces, highlighting the initiative’s focus on empowering local businesses. Their involvement not only fosters entrepreneurship but also ensures that travelers can experience a taste of New York’s diversity.
Patricia Chinander, CEO of Love From USA, shared her excitement about promoting local artisans and businesses within the terminal, encapsulating the spirit of New York. Additionally, travelers can expect a range of 24/7 retail concepts that offer dynamic product mixes and convenience.
As the New Terminal One prepares to welcome its first customers, the emphasis on local excellence and cultural representation in its offerings is a hopeful sign for the future of airport retail and the celebration of New York’s vibrant community spirit.
