LIV Golf is taking significant steps to expand its opportunities for players as it heads into the 2026 season, recently announcing new measures designed to enhance competition and inclusion. This year, the tour will now grant full-time spots on LIV to not just the season-long winner, but also to the top two finishers in the International Series points race. This shift aims to provide more players with a pathway into LIV, preceding a busy 2026 season which is set to commence from February 5-7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The LIV Promotions event, scheduled for January 8-11 at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida, will see a similar expansion in its offerings. Previously, only the winner earned promotion to LIV, but starting this year, the top two finishers will receive full-time spots. This marks a return to the event’s original format, which initially allowed for three promotions in its inaugural edition.
As it stands, there are just two events left in this year’s International Series, which has hosted nine sanctioned events by the Asian Tour, including the upcoming Moutai Singapore Open from November 6-9 and the PIF Saudi International from November 19-22. Notably, former LIV competitor Scott Vincent and Miguel Tabuena are currently leading the points standings.
The Promotions event will maintain its structure of having a cut after the first two rounds, with scores reset after 36 holes. Additionally, the top ten finishers and ties in this event will gain exemptions into the 2026 International Series events, thereby enhancing their competitive landscape.
For the upcoming LIV Promotions, players will be categorized for exemptions. Category A includes qualifiers from prestigious amateur events and top-ranked amateurs, while Category B will provide exemptions into Round 2 for select players.
