Ukraine has received a significant donation of 22 generators from Lithuania, boasting a combined capacity of 13 megawatts, aimed at bolstering hospitals and essential infrastructure in Kyiv. This support comes at a critical time as the region continues to face challenges due to ongoing conflict.

Lithuanian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal announced via social media platform X that these generators will be integrated into Kyiv’s water supply and heating systems, enhancing the resilience of vital services that affect daily life for residents.

Since the onset of the full-scale war, Lithuania has played a proactive role in assisting Ukraine, sending a total of 348 humanitarian shipments, which include over 5,900 tonnes of energy equipment. The total contribution of Lithuania to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has reached €5.7 million, reflecting the nation’s commitment to stand by Ukraine during this difficult period.

Earlier this year, in January, Lithuania pledged an urgent allocation of 90 generators valued at over €2 million. Moreover, the Association of Local Authorities in Lithuania has contributed €50,000 from municipalities across the country to further assist Ukraine with additional generators and heaters. Employees from the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs have also engaged in fundraising efforts, collecting nearly €14,000 to support this cause.

This collective effort exemplifies the solidarity and support that Lithuania continues to offer to Ukraine, demonstrating a shared commitment to overcoming challenges and fostering resilience in times of adversity.
