Lubbock, Texas – Lubbock Independent School District (LISD) has announced the cancellation of classes for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, due to the ongoing chilly temperatures and the potential for hazardous driving conditions. All schools and administrative offices will remain closed, and employees will work from home for planning purposes.

In addition to the cancellations, LISD will provide meal pickups for students between 10 and 11 a.m. Families can collect meals at four designated high schools: Coronado, Estacado, Lubbock, and Monterey. No student presence is necessary for meal pickup, but caregivers must have their student’s home campus information ready.

The meal distribution locations are as follows:

– Coronado High School, 4910 29th Dr., Door #26
– Estacado High School, 1504 E Itasca St., Door #23
– Lubbock High School, 2004 19th St., Door #8
– Monterey High School, 3211 47th St., Door #20

District officials prioritize the safety of students and staff, advising the community to refrain from unnecessary travel and to stay warm. They encourage families to keep an eye on their emails and phones for further updates related to the weather.

LISD reminds everyone that official announcements regarding weather-related cancellations, delays, or early dismissals will be communicated via email, text, and made accessible on their website and social media channels. It is advisable to rely on these official communications to avoid misinformation.

This proactive stance by LISD underscores their commitment to student welfare and community safety during adverse weather conditions.
