Linkin Park Reinvents Itself: New Album, New Sound, New Era!

Linkin Park has officially revealed major updates, including a new singer, drummer, a forthcoming album, and a brand new song. On September 5, the iconic nu-metal band disclosed that their first album since 2017, titled FROM ZERO, is set to be released on November 15 and is now available for pre-order through Warner Records.

Emily Armstrong from Dead Sara joins the band as the new singer, while Colin Brittain has taken on the role of the new drummer. The lineup also includes established members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn.

In addition to the album announcement, Linkin Park has debuted their first new song in seven years, titled “The Emptiness Machine,” which was showcased during a livestream performance on their social media platforms.

Mike Shinoda expressed enthusiasm about the new direction for Linkin Park, stating, “Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future—embracing our signature sound while being new and full of life. It was created with deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, friends, family, and fans.”

Shinoda further highlighted the synergy with the new members by saying, “The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the creative process. We feel empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant, energized music we’ve made together. We’re blending our known sonic elements while exploring new ones.”

Earlier in August, the band had hinted at significant news, initially setting a countdown on their website for an announcement that didn’t materialize as expected. When the countdown reached zero on August 28, it unexpectedly restarted, leading fans to speculate about a September 5 reveal which ultimately proved correct.

The band has not performed live since the tragic passing of founding member Chester Bennington in July 2017, with the only concert since then being a tribute show in the fall of that same year.
