Lindsay Lohan is opening up about the emotional impact of her early fame as a child star. In a recent interview with The Times, she reflected on the intense media scrutiny she faced during her peak popularity in the 2000s, describing it as a significant source of trauma. “I have PTSD to the extreme from those things. The most invasive situations. Really scary,” Lohan revealed, emphasizing her desire to protect her family from similar experiences.

She noted a shift in the paparazzi’s behavior over the past two decades, suggesting that the level of invasive attention on celebrities has decreased compared to her younger years. “I feel that it doesn’t happen as badly now as it did,” she remarked, adding that the rise of social media has empowered stars to reclaim their narratives. “Now, people can tell their own story in the way that you want it to be told,” Lohan stated.

Lohan admitted that despite her long-standing acclimation to public attention, she still finds the omnipresence of smartphones alarming. “I’d rather someone just ask if they can take a photo,” she said, expressing her discomfort with being constantly filmed without permission.

As a mother to a two-year-old son, Lohan’s priorities have changed dramatically, with family now at the forefront of her decision-making regarding film projects. “Everything I do is [about] what’s going to work for my family,” she explained. Her new role in the sequel “Freakier Friday” holds special significance for her, as it allows her to draw on her maternal experiences, a perspective she lacked when filming the original as a teenager. “The bond you have with your child — how irreplaceable that is — is always the most important thing in the world,” she noted.

The actress has embraced her evolution, advising her younger self to take life at a slower pace and encouraging her to prioritize personal well-being and family. “Slow down,” she said, a poignant reminder for anyone navigating the pressures of fame at a young age.

“Freakier Friday,” which Lohan describes as a meaningful project in her career, is set to hit theaters on August 8. This film could represent a new chapter in Lohan’s life, blending her personal growth with her professional endeavors, and signals a hopeful future for the actress.
