Linda Ronstadt Slams Trump Ahead of Controversial Rally Named After Her

Renowned Mexican American singer Linda Ronstadt has openly criticized Donald Trump for his “hatred” as the Republican presidential nominee plans to hold a rally in a hall named after her in Tucson, Arizona.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday evening, the 78-year-old multi-Grammy Award winner expressed her dismay, stating, “Donald Trump is holding a rally on Thursday in a rented hall in my hometown, Tucson. I would prefer to ignore that sad fact. But since the building has my name on it, I need to say something.”

Ronstadt expressed her sorrow over the former president bringing his divisive rhetoric to Tucson, a community with strong Mexican-American heritage and a spirit of tolerance and joy. She denounced Trump’s “toxic politics” as well as his “hatred of women, immigrants and people of color,” while also criticizing his dishonesty and ignorance.

She specifically condemned Trump’s immigration policies, particularly the family separation policy that resulted in many children being left orphaned, which she felt had devastated families.

Ronstadt also referred to Trump as a rapist, highlighting his previous remarks about rapists entering from Mexico. “I’m worried about keeping the rapist out of the White House,” she stated.

This comment followed allegations from E. Jean Carroll, a New York writer who accused Trump of raping her in a department store in the 1990s, a claim he denied, leading to a jury finding him liable for sexual assault last year.

Moreover, Ronstadt criticized JD Vance, who has disparagingly labeled childless individuals as “childish cat ladies” and described them as “psychotic” and “deranged.” Responding to these remarks, she noted, “I raised two adopted children in Tucson as a single mom. They are both grown and living in their own houses. I live with a cat.” She concluded, “Call me what you want, but this cat lady will be voting proudly in November for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”

Trump’s rally is scheduled to take place at 2 PM in Tucson, where he is expected to address issues related to the “rising cost of housing.”
