Rapper Lil Nas X, born Montero Lamar Hill, made a memorable appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on May 8, where he openly discussed various topics including his past Met Gala outfits and the creative journey for his upcoming album, Dreamboy. During the show, host Jennifer Hudson showcased images of his previous Met Gala ensembles, prompting a humorous reaction from the rapper who asked her to take them down, particularly his 2023 look, which he described as not his favorite.

This year’s Met Gala theme paid tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld, and Lil Nas X made a bold statement wearing a metallic thong designed by Dior Men, complete with an extravagant mask adorned with pearls and rhinestones, and his body painted silver. In a candid moment, he reflected on the experience of walking the red carpet, feeling somewhat embarrassed while interacting with fellow artist Bad Bunny, noting the awkwardness of being covered in crystals.

Reflecting on his daring fashion choices, he reassured viewers that he doesn’t regret the risks he took, emphasizing his desire to embrace his body and step outside of his comfort zone. “I want to feel good about my body…just looking back, going, ‘Damn, everybody saw my a** covered in, like, silver crystals,’” he remarked, highlighting his commitment to self-expression.

The discussion also turned to his upcoming music video for “HOTBOX,” which serves as the lead single from the eagerly awaited album, Dreamboy. Lil Nas X shared that while he had a great time filming, he was dealing with the emotional toll of a recent breakup, often taking breaks to cry between takes.

As for the theme of his new album, he described Dreamboy as an era centered on self-love and reconnecting with his inner child, a journey of personal growth and reflection. Lil Nas X noted that he has shifted his focus from proving naysayers wrong to nurturing himself, stating, “It kind of came to me as me reconnecting with my inner child.”

While the exact release date for Dreamboy has not been announced, he did release an EP, Days Before Dreamboy, on March 28, which has set the stage for what fans can expect in his upcoming full album. This progression suggests an evolving artist dedicated to authenticity and self-discovery, providing hope for those who resonate with his journey.
