Lil Durk’s Legal Troubles: Arrested on Murder-for-Hire Charges

Chicago rapper Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, has been arrested and is currently in Broward County jail facing federal murder-for-hire charges. The 32-year-old rapper is charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder for hire resulting in death. He appeared in a Miami federal court on Friday, but his family declined to comment on the situation.

According to jail records, Durk was apprehended by U.S. Marshals while attempting to leave the country late Thursday or early Friday. Both the U.S. Marshals and Durk’s representatives have not yet responded to media inquiries regarding the arrest.

Lil Durk is known for his successful collaborations with artists such as Drake and J. Cole, with songs like “Laugh Now Cry Later” and “All My Life” reaching impressive chart positions. He won a Grammy in 2024 for Best Melodic Rap Performance for “Laugh Now Cry Later.”

While details surrounding the alleged murder-for-hire plot remain scarce, the arrest coincides with the indictment of five individuals connected to his hip hop collective, “Only the Family” (OTF), on similar charges in California. These individuals are accused of attempting to carry out a murder-for-hire in retaliation for the shooting death of King Von, a fellow Chicago rapper and OTF member who had worked with Durk.

The indictment includes charges against OTF members and several others, alleging that they conspired to kill a rapper named Quando Rondo after the death of King Von. The documents outline a violent past, including an incident in 2020 where King Von was killed during a confrontation in Atlanta.

Additionally, the indictment details a failed attempt to kill Rondo in Los Angeles in 2022, where involved parties tracked him to a hotel, eventually leading to a shootout that resulted in the death of a passenger in Rondo’s vehicle.

The charges against the indicted individuals include conspiracy, murder for hire, and firearm offenses. It remains unclear whether they have secured legal representation.
