The Liberty University softball team has achieved significant recognition with three players named in the D1Softball Postseason D100 Player Rankings. Rachel Roupe earned the 30th spot, while senior pitcher Elena Escobar was ranked 88th, and senior outfielder KK Madrey secured the 99th position. Notably, Liberty’s three honorees surpassed other teams outside the prestigious Power Four Conferences, showcasing their remarkable talent.
The team’s success is underscored by national champion Texas, which topped the rankings with seven players featured. Arizona followed closely with six, while Arkansas, Oklahoma, and UCLA each had five. Florida, Florida State, Oregon, and Texas A&M had four players recognized, placing Liberty in a tied position with LSU, Stanford, and Virginia Tech, each having three players acknowledged.
All three Liberty athletes were recognized as NFCA All-Region players and members of the CUSA All-Conference first team. Roupe was the 2025 CUSA Player of the Year, and Escobar claimed the title of 2025 CUSA Pitcher of the Year. Roupe’s outstanding performance included a .390 season batting average, leading CUSA in several categories such as 19 doubles, 23 home runs, and 73 RBIs. In fact, she tied for seventh in the NCAA Division I rankings for home runs and was awarded the Rawlings Gold Glove for her defensive prowess.
Escobar, formidable on the mound, boasted a 25-4 record with seven shutouts, leading the conference with the most wins and ranking high in ERA and strikeouts. Her performance was pivotal in the postseason, contributing significantly to Liberty’s success at the NCAA Bryan-College Station Regional.
Madrey had a standout season as well, benefiting from her elite center field play and distinguished as a top basestealer nationally. Her record of 50 stolen bases ranks second among NCAA Division I players, while her batting averages of .430 in conference play and .402 overall were among the top in CUSA, making her the first Lady Flame to hit .400 or better since 2007.
The Lady Flames wrapped up their season with a remarkable 50-15 record, setting a new program record for single-season wins. They successfully defended their Conference USA regular-season title and tournament championship, making headlines by earning their first Super Regional appearance at the NCAA Bryan-College Station Regional, where they triumphed over No. 1 Texas A&M in a historic matchup.
Liberty’s achievements this season, particularly their recognition in the Postseason D100 rankings, highlight not only individual excellence but also the depth and competitiveness of their program. This lays a hopeful foundation for the team’s future, as they continue to strive for greatness on the national stage.
