LG Unveils Xbox Cloud Gaming Portal on India’s webOS TVs

LG has officially launched a groundbreaking Gaming Portal for its Smart TVs in India, representing a significant advancement in cloud-based gaming on television within the country. This innovative feature transforms compatible LG webOS models into gaming devices that don’t require a console, allowing users to stream and enjoy video games directly over the Internet. With the integration of the Xbox app into the Gaming Portal, LG is positioning its Smart TVs as all-in-one entertainment solutions, offering immediate access to thousands of games without the hassles of downloads, discs, or additional hardware.

Owners of LG webOS Smart TVs produced between 2021 and 2025 will soon be able to access the Gaming Portal and Xbox app through phased software updates. Once users install the update, the portal will be conveniently located on their home screen, enabling them to start playing with an active Xbox Game Pass subscription right away.

The rollout of this feature begins in major cities and is set to expand throughout the country, as confirmed by the company’s press release. LG has noted that the functionality of cloud gaming may differ depending on the specific models of smart TVs in use.

With a valid Xbox Game Pass subscription, a compatible controller, and a reliable high-speed Internet connection, gamers can access a variety of Xbox Cloud Gaming titles, including popular games like Forza Horizon 5, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and Raji: An Ancient Epic.

LG’s Gaming Portal serves as a centralized hub for gaming on webOS, gathering content from various cloud partners. It offers access to over 4,000 streamed games and around 600 free-to-play titles available globally. Users can easily browse, launch, and play games directly from the TV interface, removing the need for external consoles or devices.

To enhance the gaming experience, LG equips its more recent Smart TV models with features that cater to fast and competitive gameplay. Supported models come with G-Sync compatibility, AMD FreeSync Premium, a variable refresh rate of up to 165Hz, an impressive 0.1ms pixel response time certified by Intertek, and Clear MR 10000 certification. These advanced technologies are designed to minimize lag, motion blur, and screen tearing during cloud-streamed gaming sessions, making it an appealing option for gamers looking for high performance and convenience.

This launch signifies a positive step for the gaming community in India, providing more accessible gaming options and improving the overall user experience on Smart TVs.
