Lenny Kravitz Shines at MTV VMAs: A Rock God Returns!

Lenny Kravitz, the legendary rock musician, delivered an electrifying three-song medley at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 11. Introduced by British artist Suki Waterhouse, who hailed him as a “rock God with a sound completely his own,” Kravitz kicked off his performance with his iconic 1993 hit “Are You Gonna Go My Way.” He donned a dramatic white boa and a striking silver-fringe vest.

Following this, he smoothly transitioned into his latest single “Human,” which embraces a disco vibe. He was backed by dancers and shared the stage with his co-guitarist, who sported an open vest. Kravitz concluded the medley with “Fly,” featuring Quavo—a modern take on his massive 1998 song “Fly Away,” released earlier this year. The catchy chorus drew enthusiastic sing-alongs from a star-studded audience that included Post Malone and Paris Hilton.

Earlier in the evening, Kravitz received a moonperson award during the preshow for best rock with “Human,” marking his first win in this category despite three previous nominations when it was known as best rock video. This victory adds to his accolades at the Video Music Awards, following his win for best male video in 1993 for “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” which he performed during his debut at the event alongside renowned Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones.

Kravitz’s legacy at the MTV Video Music Awards also includes memorable moments from the 1998 ceremony, where he presented the best rock video award to Aerosmith for “Pink” and performed alongside Madonna for her song “Ray of Light,” which won the video of the year.
