Leipzig’s Hopes Rest on Siebert’s Whistle Ahead of Stuttgart Clash

The Bundesliga match between RB Leipzig and VfB Stuttgart will be officiated by referee Daniel Siebert, as announced by the Deutsche Fußball Liga. The game is scheduled for Saturday at 3:30 PM (local time) and will be broadcast live on Sky.

Daniel Siebert, a 41-year-old from Berlin, has been a referee in the Bundesliga since 2012 and became a FIFA referee in 2015. He is recognized as one of the most experienced officials in Germany, having international experience in prestigious tournaments, including the UEFA Champions League, the FIFA World Cup 2022, and the upcoming UEFA European Championship 2024. Notably, he officiated the DFB-Pokal final in 2023, where RB Leipzig triumphed over Eintracht Frankfurt with a score of 2-0.

Throughout his career, Siebert has officiated 30 competitive matches involving RB Leipzig. The team’s record under his supervision is mixed, with ten victories, eight draws, and twelve losses, partly attributed to facing formidable opponents. One such instance was the team’s away match against Bayern Munich in December 2024, where Leipzig suffered a heavy 1-5 defeat.

In Siebert’s last match handling RB Leipzig, the team lost 1-2 against Mainz 05. The sports publication Kicker rated Siebert’s performance as a 2.0, noting his clear decision-making, authoritative control of the game, and effective advantage assessment.

For the upcoming match against Stuttgart, Siebert will be assisted by Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn as assistant referees, while Florian Lechner will serve as the fourth official. Benjamin Cortus will act as the Video Assistant Referee, supported by Philipp Hüwe.

This matchup presents an opportunity for RB Leipzig to turn their fortunes around under a seasoned referee, and fans are hopeful for a competitive and thrilling encounter on Saturday.
