Lego is creating quite the buzz at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which kicks off today. Attendees will be treated to a magnificent brick-built model depicting the convention floor, alongside exciting previews of upcoming Lego merchandise inspired by popular franchises including Wicked, Stranger Things, DC’s Batman, and Nintendo’s Game Boy.
In partnership with Universal, Lego will launch six new Wicked-themed sets on September 1, with some available for preorder now. Among these are Elphaba’s Retreat and Glinda’s Wedding Day, as well as BrickHeadz figures of Glinda and Elphaba. Fans can also look forward to two Emerald City-themed sets, featuring the Emerald City Wall Art and the Emerald City & Kiamo Ko Castle, with prices ranging from $20 to $160.
Lego is also addressing fans’ nostalgia with a new BrickHeadz set for Netflix’s Stranger Things, showcasing characters Mike, Lucas, Dustin, and Will. This collectible, made of over 540 pieces, is available for preorder at $40 ahead of its launch on October 1.
Furthermore, Lego is unveiling an impressive Batman Arkham Asylum set, consisting of nearly 3,000 pieces that depict the iconic location with intricate detail, including inmate cells and a variety of characters such as Batman and the Joker. This set will be released globally on September 12 and is priced at $300.
On the gaming front, the Lego Nintendo Game Boy model captures the essence of the classic handheld console with its 421 pieces, complete with a Game Pak slot. This set, which features interchangeable screens akin to the original console, can be preordered for $60 and will also be available on October 1.
In addition to these exciting reveals, Lego’s Comic-Con experience promises fun activities like a scavenger hunt, an exclusive Lego-Con guidebook, and opportunities to build custom brick booths at the event.
