Recently, unfinished game assets from the canceled version of Asypr Media’s highly anticipated Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake surfaced online, shared by a developer no longer associated with the project, which has transitioned to Saber Interactive. The revealed images, reported by MP1st, illustrate modern graphical updates to various assets, including blasters, vibroswords, consoles, and containers.

Among the highlights is a visually appealing arrangement of weapons resting on a bed, reminiscent of the barracks aboard the Endar Spire, the game’s iconic starting point. The polished look of these items, such as blaster pistols, short vibroswords, tools, and a Republic soldier’s helmet, contrasts sharply with the original game’s simpler aesthetic. Additionally, an updated version of one of the game’s classic footlockers is included in this glimpse into the remake’s design.

Further images depict an enhanced environment that appears to be a corridor, a console, and a cart from the Endar Spire, which aligns with the perspective of the designer who shared the assets. Notably, the weapons are set to include a customizable feature that would enable players to modify their appearance along with their stats, a significant advancement over the original game’s weapon modification system. This improvement promises to align the remake with modern titles in the Star Wars franchise, such as Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor.

Fans also get a sneak peek at a player character wielding a short vibrosword, accompanied by a fragment of the user interface showcasing the beloved companion Mission Vao. While her textures appear slightly outdated, her presence hints at the nostalgic dual-companion system that KOTOR is known for.

This leak follows a previous release of Asypr Media’s work on KOTOR just a month ago, which featured concept art of the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk, further indicating the depth of creativity that had been directed toward the remake prior to its transition to Saber Interactive.

As we await the future of the KOTOR remake in the hands of Saber Interactive, there is hope that the updates will not only enhance visual fidelity but also introduce meaningful improvements to gameplay mechanics. There’s excitement surrounding the potential of this beloved franchise to reach a new generation of players, making the wait all the more worthwhile.
