The People’s Alliance Party (PAP) has responded to the emergence of a list circulating on social media that allegedly features names of individuals seeking to contest under the party’s banner. However, the party has refrained from confirming or denying the authenticity of the list.

In a statement, PAP general secretary Sila Balawa reiterated that the candidate application and selection process is a confidential matter governed by the party’s constitution. He emphasized, “The Party wishes to highlight that the candidate application and selection process remains an internal matter, and any unauthorized disclosure of information regarding this process is considered unacceptable and a serious breach of party discipline.”

Balawa noted that the Party Constitution clearly outlines the authority to investigate and manage misconduct, including actions that threaten confidentiality, trust, and unity within the organization. He confirmed that internal procedures are underway to determine the source of the leak and hold those responsible accountable.

The general secretary made it clear that the PAP would not tolerate indiscipline, factional behavior, or the leakage of confidential information by its members, staff, or affiliates. He cautioned, “Such conduct, particularly when fueled by personal grievances, damages the Party and will be addressed firmly and decisively.”

As the party approaches the election period, Balawa stressed the importance of vigilance against misinformation and any attempts to undermine its internal processes. “The integrity of our Headquarters and Party structures must be upheld at all times,” he stated. He concluded by affirming the People’s Alliance Party’s commitment to responsible leadership and good governance, showcasing a resolve to maintain a united front and foster a disciplined environment as they move forward.
