House Republicans Abe Hamadeh of Arizona and August Pfluger of Texas are spearheading a legislative effort to honor the late Charlie Kirk by featuring his image on U.S. coins. The proposed legislation, named the Charlie Kirk Commemorative Coin Act, seeks to authorize the Treasury Department to mint and distribute 400,000 silver one-dollar coins. These coins would display Kirk’s likeness on one side and the phrase “well done, good and faithful servant” on the reverse. Additional inscriptions would include Kirk’s full name, the year “2026,” and “In God We Trust.”
This initiative comes in response to the tragic assassination of Kirk, a prominent conservative figure, who was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10th. The suspect, Tyler Robinson, is facing potential death penalty charges. The proposed coin acts as a tribute to Kirk’s significant influence on American conservatism and aims to immortalize his contributions in a manner usually reserved for presidents and founding fathers.
The bill, set to be introduced shortly, requires passage in the Republican-controlled House and Democratic support in the Senate. If it passes these legislative hurdles, it would await President Donald Trump’s signature to become law. President Trump has also indicated his intention to posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Charlie Kirk’s death has prompted a wave of actions from Republican lawmakers, including a House resolution condemning his assassination and a Senate resolution naming October 14, 2025, as a “National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk.” Additionally, a contingent of House Republicans has advocated for a monument in the Capitol, and Rep. Andy Ogles from Tennessee has proposed bestowing Kirk with the Congressional Gold Medal.
