This highly anticipated rematch follows the Junior Bati’s victory over Caloundra State High in 2023, setting the stage for an exciting contest.
Coach Peni Baro expressed a strong sense of confidence regarding the team’s preparations, highlighting the diverse backgrounds of the players who have come together from various parts of Fiji. “The teams’ preparations have been good. Most of these boys came from all over Fiji,” Baro remarked. He noted that the lineup retained many players from their recent 28-12 win against Tonga, emphasizing a solid foundation built through consistent training.
Players from schools such as Lelean Memorial School, Marist Brothers High School, and Nasinu contribute to a talent-rich roster, with several being school dropouts who have embraced the opportunity to compete in rugby league. Baro credited the team’s ongoing development to the guidance of Fiji Bati head coach Wise Kativerata and coach Asaeli Saravaki, who have been instrumental in honing the players’ skills for this competition.
Recognizing the challenge posed by Caloundra State High School, Baro anticipates a closely contested match as both teams vie for victory. “Our opponent Caloundra State High School is a tough opponent. This is more likely a rematch, considering they competed against us two years ago and will be eager to turn the tide,” he noted.
