Despite challenging weather conditions, members of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus from the Lautoka branch demonstrated their commitment to community service during a city clean-up campaign held last weekend. Around 30 volunteers, including children, gathered in Lautoka, highlighting their dedication to both environmental stewardship and civic responsibility.

Guided by church officials, the team undertook a designated clean-up route that started at SPD, traveled through Navutu, and continued to the main roundabout, concluding at the Natabua junction. The persistent rain did not hinder their determination; they collected an impressive amount of waste, filling 12 large sacks with discarded plastic, cans, bottles, and paper along the walkways and drains.

The initiative received valuable support from the Lautoka City Council, which provided assistance with waste disposal. A representative from the church articulated that the clean-up was aimed at not just beautifying the city, but also at fostering awareness about environmental pollution and engaging the youth in community responsibilities, ultimately benefiting society at large.

The involvement of young participants underscores the church’s emphasis on teaching environmental consciousness from an early age. Local residents witnessed the group’s diligent work in the rain, reflecting a strong community spirit. The Shincheonji Church of Jesus pledges to continue its efforts in community clean-ups and charitable activities as a part of its broader mission. Looking forward, the church is committed to expanding its volunteer programs to further promote health, hygiene, and overall community well-being in Lautoka.
