Four individuals, including Artika Sharma, Ajay Kumar, Ravinal Ravinesh Anand, and Sanjay Kumar, appeared before the Lautoka Magistrates Court in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a 20-year-old woman in Saweni last month. This significant case has now been transferred to the High Court in Lautoka for further proceedings.

The court has ordered that all four accused remain in custody, with their next appearance scheduled for March 9. The incident reportedly occurred on the morning of February 25, 2026, when the accused are alleged to have forcefully taken the victim from her home after a dispute. It is claimed that Sharma, 25, compelled the victim into her vehicle while the other three accused assaulted a relative who tried to intervene.

According to police reports, the victim managed to escape from the vehicle, though she sustained injuries in the process. Artika Sharma faces multiple charges, including one count of kidnapping, one count of damaging property, and one count of an act intended to cause grievous harm. Meanwhile, her three co-defendants, all residents of Saweni, are charged with kidnapping, assault causing actual bodily harm, and criminal intimidation.

This case highlights significant concerns regarding public safety and the serious nature of such incidents in the community. The ongoing legal process serves as a reminder of the judicial system’s role in addressing and resolving matters of this nature. The community continues to hope for justice for the victim and the enforcement of accountability for those involved.
