Lautoka Hospital Debuts Prefabricated Outpatient Pharmacy as Fiji Expands Access

A newly constructed prefabricated pharmacy is set to enhance outpatient services at Lautoka Hospital, managed by Aspen. The initiative comes as part of the government’s efforts to improve access to essential pharmacy services in the Lautoka community.

Assistant Minister for Health Penioni Ravunawa recently visited the site of the new pharmacy, which will function as the Outpatient Pharmacy Dispensary. During his visit, Ravunawa praised the dedication of the Ministry’s team and partners, emphasizing that this project underscores the government’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare closer to the people.

The new facility is aimed at streamlining patient flow and enhancing access to necessary medications for outpatient services, ultimately improving patient experiences at Lautoka Hospital. The Assistant Minister also recognized the efforts of the Kamikamica Health Centre team in maintaining high service standards amidst increasing patient demand.

Further plans are afoot to establish similar prefabricated pharmacies at Kamikamica Health Centre and Ba Aspen Medical Hospital, which would contribute to enhancing accessibility across the healthcare system. This new pharmacy signifies an important step toward more efficient, patient-centered healthcare delivery throughout Fiji.

The establishment of such facilities not only improves service delivery in urban areas but also reinforces the government’s broader health initiatives, aimed at bolstering emergency preparedness and responsiveness in medical services across the country. These efforts reflect a hopeful trajectory for healthcare in Fiji, with ongoing investments signifying a commitment to advancing public health infrastructure, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.
