The truck driver responsible for illegally dumping waste near the Waiyavi Waterfall has been successfully identified following a rigorous investigation by the Lautoka City Council’s Litter Prevention Officers. The Council confirmed that the truck owner has taken full responsibility for the incident and has committed to restoring the affected area.

Additionally, the offender received a spot fine in accordance with the Litter Promulgation Act 2010, which has already been paid. Salend Singh, the Head of Service, emphasized the Council’s serious stance on environmental protection, stating their commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to safeguard the city’s natural sites.

“The Lautoka City Council is dedicated to protecting our environment and ensuring that popular natural attractions like Waiyavi Waterfall remain pristine and available for the community’s enjoyment,” Singh noted. Council officials have also reinforced that ongoing enforcement efforts are necessary to deter illegal dumping and promote responsible waste disposal.
