Commuters using the newly renovated Lautoka bus terminal are set to benefit from enhanced safety measures, as the installation of 24/7 CCTV surveillance is underway. Taitusi Rasoki, chairperson of the Lautoka Board of Special Administrators, confirmed that this initiative is part of a comprehensive $2.8 million upgrade aimed at improving security within the terminal.
“The project includes strategically placed CCTV cameras to monitor and deter any potential criminal activity,” Rasoki remarked. This initiative is aligned with a larger strategy from both the council and the Ministry of Local Government to bolster safety across the city, particularly in response to rising concerns regarding drug-related offenses and other criminal activities.
