Las Vegas Weather: Rain and Mountain Snow Ahead, Warmer Weekend

Southern Nevada is kicking off Friday with light to moderate rain and an expected accumulation of snow in the mountain regions.

Today, Las Vegas will see high temperatures around 56 degrees, which is slightly below the normal high of 64 degrees for this time of year. Morning rain showers are anticipated, with a chance of additional showers in the afternoon. The Spring Mountains may receive a few more inches of snow, while light winds will blow from the northeast at up to 10 mph.

Conditions in the valley are favorable with air quality rated as ‘good’ and low pollen levels.

Tonight, cloudy skies will prevail with a slight chance of showers continuing. Overnight temperatures in the valley are projected to drop to around 49 degrees, accompanied by winds from the north at speeds of 5 to 15 mph.

Looking ahead, the timing of the storm system has shifted slightly, though scattered showers are still a possibility through Saturday morning. As the storm moves eastward, rain and mountain snow activity is expected to diminish throughout the day. Most of the rain is expected to impact areas to the south of the Las Vegas valley, with some locations potentially experiencing minor flooding, particularly in low-lying areas where the ground is already saturated from recent rains.

This month has already seen 1.58 inches of rain, contributing to nearly 40% of Las Vegas’ annual average rainfall of 4.18 inches, a significant amount considering most of it has fallen since last Saturday.

High pressure is set to build in over the weekend, leading to a temperature increase. By Sunday, highs in the valley are forecasted to rebound to the mid-60s, with seasonal temperatures expected for most of the upcoming week.

Looking further ahead, the Thanksgiving Day forecast predicts partly cloudy skies and valley highs around 66 degrees, with indications of another round of active weather possibly arriving next weekend. This pattern of changing weather demonstrates the dynamic climate of Southern Nevada, which keeps residents on their toes while also offering some much-needed rain.
