Fifty schools across Fiji, particularly those situated in remote and maritime areas with limited access to digital resources, are set to receive a vital boost thanks to the ASCO Foundation’s donation of new laptops. An official handover ceremony took place at the Ministry of Education in Nabua, Suva, marking a significant step toward enhancing inclusive and equitable education throughout the country.
Education Minister Aseri Radrodro emphasized the government’s commitment to improving digital learning opportunities for all students, irrespective of their geographical location. Radrodro believes that this initiative will empower students to become more adept with technology, a crucial skill in today’s increasingly digital world.
Ronald Kumar, trustee of the ASCO Foundation and CEO of ASCO Motors Fiji, stated that the donation is aimed at bridging the digital divide. He expressed that every child deserves the chance to learn and succeed, regardless of their circumstances. In addition to the laptop donations, Datec Fiji has committed to providing one year of technical support and maintenance, ensuring that schools can effectively utilize their new resources. For example, KPMG Fiji and LiteHaus have also contributed by donating refurbished laptops to schools, further reinforcing the importance of digital literacy in education.
