Adeel Shams, the founder of CoolKicks, has been taken into custody following a raid conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department. The incident was first brought to light by sneaker source HORHEAD_Sales on X and was later corroborated on Reddit, where a live stream from CoolKicks on Whatnot was abruptly interrupted amidst the police activity. This sudden stoppage led to widespread speculation, which has since been confirmed by public booking records.
As per the Los Angeles County Inmate Information Center, the 33-year-old Shams was arrested on Thursday, October 2, by the LAPD’s BUNCO/Forgery Division facing felony charges linked to alleged fraudulent activities. The arrest reportedly occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. local time and was officially logged at 6:32 p.m. on the same day. Records also reveal that no bail was set, but Shams was released the following day, October 3, on his own recognizance, pending a future trial.
Shams is expected to return to court on Thursday, October 23, at the Los Angeles Superior Court, Department 30. This situation highlights the ongoing scrutiny within the sneaker and streetwear industry, as authorities remain vigilant against fraudulent practices. The outcome of the upcoming court appearance will be pivotal in determining Shams’ future within this competitive market.
