Lamb Back, Pickens Rising: Cowboys Eye Dynamic Duo

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is embracing the emergence of George Pickens as a key asset in the team’s offense during Lamb’s recovery from an ankle injury. While sidelined for multiple weeks, Lamb has enthusiastically supported Pickens, celebrating his accomplishments from the sidelines. With Lamb now back in action, he made it clear that he values their partnership and is eager to see it flourish beyond this season.

Lamb emphasized the lack of ego in their dynamic, stating, “I hope he gets everything that he deserves.” He has praised Pickens, who has made a significant impact in Lamb’s absence, leaving fans and analysts impressed with his performance. So far this season, Pickens has recorded 32 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns—already surpassing his previous career-high just six weeks into the season. Lamb noted, “I gave y’all a warning… I was like, ‘You’ve got two ones.’”

Quarterback Dak Prescott has also voiced strong support for Pickens. He remarked on the importance of discussing Pickens’ future with team owner Jerry Jones, indicating a collaborative effort to ensure that the rising star remains a part of the Cowboys.

For his part, Pickens has indicated that, while he’s focusing on the present and helping the team secure victories, he wouldn’t mind staying in Dallas long-term. “The guys in the locker room are super cool, the energy’s great,” he said, highlighting the positive environment surrounding the team.

The decision to extend Pickens’ contract will ultimately rest with Jones and the front office. Jones has acknowledged the importance of making room within the salary cap for Pickens if his performance continues at this elite level, saying, “We knew full well that if things really went like we want them to go, that certainly we need to think about having some room available if we’re going to pay a second receiver at that level.”

As Lamb prepares to make his return to the field against the Washington Commanders, he expressed confidence in his recovery. He revealed that he opted for an additional week off to ensure he is fully ready. “I feel like that’s why we took an extra week off,” he explained. With Lamb back in the lineup, the Cowboys offense—currently the most productive in the league—looks to continue its success.

Despite being a 1.5-point underdog in the upcoming matchup, the Cowboys remain poised to capitalize on the contributions of both Lamb and Pickens, continuing to build a formidable receiving duo.
