The Los Angeles Lakers have signed guard Quincy Olivari to a two-way contract after he impressed in the preseason, as reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania and Dave McMenamin. In conjunction with this move, the Lakers have released center Colin Castleton.
Olivari initially joined the Lakers under an Exhibit 10 contract on June 27 after going undrafted in the 2024 NBA draft. The 23-year-old showcased his scoring ability by averaging 19.1 points per game during his senior season at Xavier.
Following the announcement, Olivari shared his excitement on social media. His two-way contract allows him to be active for up to 50 regular-season games with the Lakers while also giving him the opportunity to play with the team’s G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.
In the preseason, Olivari secured a spot in head coach JJ Redick’s rotation. He scored 11 points in just nine minutes during a victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on October 10, hitting four of six shots and making three of four three-point attempts. Redick praised Olivari’s impact, noting his disruptive defense and ability to manage the shot clock.
Throughout the preseason, Olivari maintained strong performance metrics, averaging 8.8 points and 3.5 rebounds over 13.4 minutes per game with notable shooting splits of 52.2% from the field, 57.1% from beyond the arc, and 100% from the free-throw line.
His impressive displays caught the attention of several NBA stars, including two-time MVP Stephen Curry, who met with Olivari after a recent Lakers-Warriors game.
