A wildfire that ignited in Clearlake on Sunday afternoon quickly spread across 340 acres, leading to the issuance of evacuation orders for four zones: CLE-E123, CLE-E126, CLO-E113, and CLE-E135. Fortunately, by 5:20 p.m., all evacuation orders were downgraded to warnings.

The blaze, known as the Lake Fire, was first reported around 2:20 p.m. near Eastlake Drive and has been described as exhibiting moderate to erratic behavior, leading to a 5% containment by early evening. Fire crews have been actively working to manage the situation, employing a substantial response team. Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit mobilized an impressive 15 engines, five bulldozers, and several aerial resources including helicopters and air tankers.

The fire threatened numerous structures, particularly in the vicinity of Eastlake Drive. Additional evacuation warnings were issued for two zones, CLE-E124 and CLO-E109, situated to the west of Highway 53.

As of 5 p.m., there have been no reported injuries related to the fire. However, approximately 680 customers in the area experienced power outages, with restoration completed by 5:30 p.m. The National Weather Service reported west-northwest winds of 14 mph, with potential gusts reaching 33 mph later in the evening, alongside humidity levels at about 23 degrees.

The quick response from firefighting services and the downgrade of evacuation orders are positive developments amidst the challenge of battling the wildfire. It highlights the effective coordination among various local agencies and the community’s resilience in facing natural disasters.
