Lady Gaga Embraces Vulnerability Ahead of Olympic Performance

Lady Gaga recently reflected on the evolution of vulnerability in her life as she prepares for her performance in the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. During a conversation, she casually mentioned a hole in her gray leggings, highlighting a shift in her perspective. “In the past, I would have felt immense pressure to be fully glam for you and be ready to perform,” she said, acknowledging how her approach to public appearances has changed.

Gaga attributed part of her newfound steadiness to experiencing real love, which she credits to her engagement to Michael Polansky, her partner for nearly five years. The couple got engaged in April following a day of rock climbing, and she proudly shows off her striking diamond ring.

Their love story began in 2019, brought together by Gaga’s mother, Cynthia Germanotta, who runs the Born This Way Foundation. Polansky, a longtime associate of Sean Parker, crossed paths with Cynthia through their philanthropic efforts. Gaga recounted how her mother instantly sensed a connection, saying, “I think I just met your husband,” to which Gaga responded, “I’m not ready to meet my husband!”

Their relationship blossomed after a chance encounter at a birthday party in December 2019, where they connected during an engaging three-hour conversation. Polansky expressed surprise at Gaga’s warmth and curiosity about his upbringing in Minnesota.

As they navigated the pandemic together, living in Malibu, Gaga appreciated the opportunity to focus on their relationship without the distractions of her career. “I met this totally supportive, loving human being who wanted to get to know me—outside of Lady Gaga,” she shared, emphasizing how this time together was a special gift amidst the challenging circumstances.
