Lady A Unveils On This Winter’s Night Volume 2 and 12-Night Holiday Tour

Lady A is ready to bring holiday cheer this season with the release of their new album, “On This Winter’s Night (Volume 2)”, a follow-up to their beloved 2013 Christmas album, “On This Winter’s Night.” The trio, composed of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood, is excited to celebrate the season with fans through their music and a special 12-night holiday tour.

The making of this new album came as a natural extension of their celebrated first Christmas record. Scott reflects, “In all of the years that we’ve been a band, and in the 13 years since the release of the first Christmas album, we had never done a tour during the Christmas season. We really wanted to do that and knew that we needed another round of songs to record before we could.”

Featuring a blend of original songs and festive covers, “On This Winter’s Night (Volume 2)” includes standout tracks such as “Wouldn’t Be Christmas,” an original that Scott describes as relatable to families navigating travel woes during the holidays. Kelley’s personal experience inspired the song, recalling a Christmas Eve flight cancellation that he faced while trying to propose to his now-wife.

The trio also puts their unique spin on classic songs like “Winter Wonderland.” Kelley notes the challenge of freshening up a timeless favorite, and Haywood adds a playful beachy vibe to their rendition. The first track, “Wouldn’t Be Christmas,” is a highlight for all three members, with Haywood cherishing the excitement and storytelling inherent in holiday music.

Alongside the album, Lady A kicks off their “This Winter’s Night Tour” starting December 5 in Atlanta, culminating in a three-night run at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Kelley expresses the fulfillment of being part of fans’ holiday traditions, echoing sentiments shared by many artists when it comes to Christmas music.

As the holiday season approaches, each member also reminisces about personal family traditions. Kelley insists that his family watches “A Christmas Story,” while Haywood shares his tradition of reading scripture and making a sweet family candy called Haywood Divinity every Christmas Eve. Scott reflects on the nostalgia of family performances during the holidays, which have deeply shaped her love for music.

With the excitement of performing and family gatherings, Lady A also discusses holiday decorations. According to them, the earlier, the better when it comes to putting up Christmas décor, despite playful disputes over light styles within their families.

Looking ahead, Lady A is ready to embrace the new challenges on the horizon after their holiday tour. With ambitions to create more music, Kelley notes they are eager to take creative risks and develop a studio vision that feels organic rather than rushed.

Fans can partake in the festive fun by attending “This Winter’s Night Tour” and enjoying the new album on streaming platforms, contributing to the joyful atmosphere that Lady A seeks to cultivate this holiday season.
