The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) has announced the reopening of its recycled water refill station at the Los Angeles-Glendale Water Reclamation Plant, providing residents with the opportunity to access free recycled water through the end of the year. This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to help conserve water amidst persistent drought conditions.
Recycled water is a practical solution for homeowners looking to maintain their gardens and lawns without tapping into their personal water supplies. The water used at the refill station has been treated and disinfected, making it safe for irrigation purposes.
To participate in the program, LADWP customers must present a recent utility bill and a government-issued ID. After undergoing a brief training session at the facility, customers can fill their own water-tight containers with up to 300 gallons of recycled water per visit. The station is open every Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will remain operational until December 31. If demand for the service increases, LADWP may consider opening additional refill locations to accommodate more residents.
This move not only supports water conservation efforts but also encourages community participation in sustainable practices. By utilizing recycled water, residents can make a tangible difference in preserving vital water resources during times of drought.
