PROVO, Utah – It’s hard to believe that 12 years have passed since BYU football standout Kyle Van Noy graced the field on a gameday in Provo. His absence stems from a successful NFL career that has kept him busy since he graduated in 2013.
During his professional journey, Van Noy has become a two-time Super Bowl champion, amassing impressive statistics that include 56 sacks, 71 tackles for loss, and a total of 547 tackles. Currently with the Baltimore Ravens, he has recorded six tackles and one sack in the current season. This weekend, Van Noy was able to return to Provo due to the Ravens’ bye week.
In a heartfelt message shared on his personal website, Van Noy reflected on the significance of returning to his college roots for a BYU football game. His path to success was not without challenges; after being sidelined in his first season in 2009 due to an off-field incident, he remained dedicated to the program and ultimately achieved All-American honors.
Van Noy’s time at BYU also played a pivotal role in his personal life, as he met his wife, Marissa, during his college years. He described his time in Provo as a “blueprint” for readiness in life, stating, “BYU didn’t just give me a chance (and a second chance…), it gave me the blueprint for how to stay ready for when your shot finally comes.” He spoke fondly of his growth, emphasizing the hard work and determination that have characterized his journey.
On Friday, ahead of the highly anticipated Top 25 rivalry game against Utah, Van Noy addressed the current BYU football team. Expressing gratitude and excitement, he encouraged the players to relish the moment in LaVell Edwards Stadium, which he described as a sanctuary for many former players. He urged them to enjoy the benefits of their hard work, saying, “Let it rip!”
Van Noy will also be featured as a celebrity guest during Saturday’s Big Noon Kickoff show, broadcasted live from Provo in anticipation of the BYU-Utah matchup.
As one of the greatest players in BYU history, Kyle Van Noy’s return is not just a homecoming but also a celebration of his legacy and the impact he continues to have on the sport and the community. The excitement of this weekend’s game, featuring No. 15 BYU against No. 23 Utah, is sure to resonate with fans both old and new. Kickoff is set for Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 6 p.m. (MT).
