Dinesh Karthik, the former Indian cricketer and ICC expert, recently weighed in on Kuldeep Yadav’s chances of making it into India’s playing XI for the T20 World Cup semifinals against England. While recognizing Kuldeep’s impressive track record against England, Karthik noted that India might opt to retain the successful lineup that helped them reach this stage of the tournament.

To date, Kuldeep has participated in just one match during the ongoing T20 World Cup, which was against Pakistan in Colombo, where India deployed three spinners. Following their return to India, he lost his position in the squad. In his three T20I matches against England, Kuldeep has claimed eight wickets with a commendable economy rate of 6.41. However, given the team’s winning momentum, it appears likely that he may once again find himself on the sidelines.

Karthik expressed optimism regarding Kuldeep’s prospects, stating that conversations about him playing are expected given his successful history against England. “I think Kuldeep will be part of the conversation. He is someone who has had considerable success against England, and with a skilled option like him, whose record is strong, it is natural that there will be discussions surrounding this,” Karthik mentioned during a media interaction on JioStar Media Day.

Whether Kuldeep will make the final lineup will only be determined shortly before the match. Karthik indicated a belief that the team would continue to support the players who have carried them through the tournament.

Moreover, England is facing a similar dilemma regarding their spinner, Rehan Ahmed, who performed well in the previous Super 8s match against New Zealand. Despite his contributions, there is speculation that he may make way for Jamie Overton, a pace bowler more suited to the conditions in Mumbai.

As the cricketing world anticipates India’s quest for glory in the T20 World Cup, fans can tune in to witness this pivotal matchup against England. The match is scheduled for today at 7:00 PM, available for live viewing on JioHotstar and the Star Sports Network.
