Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to bring a fierce portrayal to the big screen in the newly released trailer for Sony Pictures’ “Kraven the Hunter.” Directed by J.C. Chandor, the film focuses on the Marvel Comics character, Kraven, and is scheduled to hit theaters on December 13.
The film features an impressive cast, including Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola, Christopher Abbott, and Russell Crowe. It narrates the story of Sergei Kravinoff, played by Taylor-Johnson, who is left for dead by his father (Crowe) after a lion attack. Following the incident, Kravinoff gains superpowers from the lion’s bite and assumes the identity of Kraven the Hunter, using brutality to protect the animal kingdom.
In the trailer, Taylor-Johnson articulates his character’s moral stance: “My father puts evil into the world. I take it out.” The preview also offers a glimpse of Alessandro Nivola as Aleksei Sytsevich, also known as the Rhino, with an intense scene showcasing a confrontation between him and Kraven in what appears to be the African savannah.
Accompanied by a haunting rendition of Johnny Cash’s “The Man Comes Around,” the new trailer emphasizes action and intensity, highlighting Taylor-Johnson’s impressive physique.
The screenplay for “Kraven the Hunter” was penned by Richard Wenk, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway, with Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and David Householter serving as producers. This film adds to the growing Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters, following titles like “Madame Web,” which faced box office challenges earlier this year, and the upcoming “Venom: The Last Dance,” set for release on October 25.
In a prior interview with Rolling Stone U.K., Taylor-Johnson shared his attraction to the character of Kraven, noting its uniqueness and grounded nature. He emphasized the need for more engaging cinematic experiences, stating he wouldn’t have joined the project if he didn’t see potential for a compelling portrayal.
