Kraft Heinz Issues Turkey Bacon Recall Over Listeria Concerns: Check Your Fridge!

Kraft Heinz is recalling approximately 367,812 pounds of fully cooked turkey bacon products due to potential listeria contamination, as announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on Wednesday. This recall affects a range of products that were produced in Newberry, South Carolina, between April 25 and June 11.

The specific items involved in the recall include 12-ounce vacuum-packed packages labeled “Oscar Mayer Turkey BACON ORIGINAL” with use-by dates from July 18 to August 2. They carry the UPC code “071871548601.” Additionally, 36-ounce packages containing three 12-ounce vacuum-sealed products, also labeled “Oscar Mayer Turkey BACON Original” and with use-by dates from July 23 to September 4, are included in the recall. These packages feature the UPC code “071871548748” and are identified by one of the lot codes: RS19, RS40, or RS42.

Furthermore, the recall extends to 48-ounce four-packs of the 12-ounce vacuum-sealed packages, which share the UPC code “071871548793” and carry similar use-by dates and lot codes as the other affected products.

The USDA has prompted consumers to check their freezers or refrigerators for these products and either discard them or return them to the store where they were purchased. Listeria contamination can lead to listeriosis, a serious infection that may present with symptoms including fever, muscle aches, headaches, and gastrointestinal issues.

This recall comes as part of an ongoing effort by regulatory agencies to ensure food safety, and it highlights the importance of consumer vigilance regarding food product labels and safety alerts. Through quick action, the potential health risks associated with these products can be minimized, reinforcing the community’s overall health and safety.
