Korda’s Comeback: Will Injury Hinder Her Championship Run?

Nelly Korda, the world’s top female golfer, made the decision to skip the champions dinner ahead of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship due to a sore neck that occurred after a practice round at PGA Frisco’s Fields Ranch East course. The neck issue arose when Korda took a shot from the rough, prompting a spasm that she later addressed with therapeutic tape.

During a media session on Tuesday, Korda expressed optimism about her readiness for the upcoming tournament despite the injury. She noted that this isn’t her first encounter with neck problems, as she previously missed two tournaments last year during the LPGA’s Asia swing due to a similar minor injury. “I hit a shot out of the rough [Monday], and my neck went into a full spasm,” she shared, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing her health over attending the dinner.

Korda mentioned that she is working with a skilled physical therapist to manage her condition. Although the injury has affected her preparation slightly, she feels confident in her ability to compete by Thursday.

The reigning Women’s PGA champion is looking to find her winning form, having been runner-up at the U.S. Women’s Open three weeks prior while not securing a victory in her last nine outings. This season has been notable for its competitive nature, with 15 different winners across 15 tournaments, highlighting the unpredictable dynamics of women’s golf.

As Korda navigates her injury and prepares for the championship, fans are hopeful for a strong performance from the talented athlete, further emphasizing her resilience and determination to succeed on the course.
