The iconic Kingfisher Villa in Goa, once emblematic of Vijay Mallya’s opulent lifestyle, has found a new lease on life under Bollywood actor Sachiin Joshi and his wife, Urvashi Sharma. The lavish property, which has been rebranded as King’s Mansion, was sold in 2017 after being seized by banks due to Mallya’s alleged default on a Rs 900 crore loan linked to IDBI Bank.

Following multiple failed attempts to auction off the villa, Joshi successfully acquired it for Rs 73.01 crore. Covering an impressive 12,350 square feet and situated on a sprawling three-acre estate, the King’s Mansion features extravagant amenities including private pools, manicured lawns, and spacious dance floors. In a nod to both his own business and the villa’s previous grandeur, Joshi named the estate King’s Mansion, echoing his brand King’s Beer.

At the unveiling of the renovated property, Joshi expressed his excitement about opening the mansion to the public, emphasizing his intent to create a welcoming space that showcases its luxurious heritage. “Today is the day I open the gates to the world,” he stated, highlighting the property’s grand transformation.

While Mallya remains in the UK facing legal challenges, the sale of Kingfisher Villa represents a significant recovery effort for Indian banks striving to reclaim lost funds associated with the former tycoon’s financial controversies. This transition from private luxury to public hospitality signifies a hopeful rebirth for a property once steeped in controversy.

The sale also illustrates the potential for Bollywood figures to engage in meaningful business ventures, blending the lines between entertainment and entrepreneurship, and breathing new life into storied estates.
