King of the Hill Returns: What’s New in Arlen, Texas?

The beloved animated series King of the Hill is set to make a return this summer after a hiatus of 16 years. This highly anticipated revival will debut on August 4 on Hulu with a fresh 10-episode season, unveiling what has changed in the lives of the Hill family and the fictional town of Arlen, Texas.

In this new season, Hank and Peggy Hill are now enjoying their retirement after spending years abroad in Saudi Arabia. Their son Bobby, once a chubby child known for his love of prop comedy, has grown into a 21-year-old chef living in Dallas, where he is discovering adulthood alongside friends Connie, Joseph, and Chane.

The show originally aired for thirteen seasons from 1997 to 2009 and has been acclaimed for its humor and relatable storytelling. The revival features returning voices from the original cast, including Mike Judge (Hank), Kathy Najimy (Peggy), and Pamela Adlon (Bobby). It is noteworthy that Johnny Hardwick, who voiced Dale, completed six episodes before his passing in August 2023, and Toby Huss will take over the role in subsequent episodes.

Although the series wrapped up in 2009, many fans fondly remember Bobby’s participation in the regional meat evaluation tournament in the episode “To Sirloin With Love.” His culinary journey appears to have continued, showcasing a natural progression into adulthood.

This revival follows Mike Judge’s successful return to television with Beavis and Butt-Head, which has also seen a new life in recent years. King of the Hill’s new season brings both nostalgia and excitement for fans eager to see how their favorite characters have evolved.

With the revival set to premiere soon, it promises to bring back the charm that made the original series a classic, capturing the essence of growth and change in a familiar, yet changed world.
